Advanced Dental Technology – Weatherford, TX

The Future of Dentistry is Now

Dentistry is a constantly changing field. Dentists have to constantly undergo additional training and continue their education to stay informed of the latest techniques and technologies. At Wright Family Dentistry, we’ve integrated soft tissue lasers, 3D cone beam imaging, and other examples of advanced technology into our practice with one goal in mind: to make our dentistry even better. Read on to learn more about the technology that we use every day at our office.

Intraoral Cameras

An intraoral camera gives our patients the unique opportunity to get a dentist’s-eye view of their own teeth and gums. The camera is very small and fits in the mouth easily so that we can take images of the various oral structures from different angles. These images not only make a useful visual aid when communicating with our patients, but they also make it easier to spot small cavities or worrisome oral symptoms that might be overlooked with the naked eye.

All-Digital X-Rays

Our digital X-ray units allow us to examine the parts of the mouth that are normally hidden by the gums, making it easier to diagnose cavities that have formed between teeth or underneath restorations while also giving us a chance to identify infections, bone loss, and other oral health issues. By using digital technology to take X-rays, we’ve made the entire process more efficient and have greatly reduced the amount of radiation that you’ll be exposed to.

3D Cone Beam Imaging

When placing dental implants or planning an advanced procedure, we will need to gather as much information about your mouth as possible. With our 3D cone beam scanner, we don’t just take a single picture of your teeth; we create a complete model of your mouth that includes all kinds of details that can affect the way that we perform our treatments, such as the location of any nerves that we’ll have to work around.

Digital Impression System

Dental restorations are not “one-size-fits-all”. Each one needs to be specifically designed to fit on your own teeth, which is why we need to take impressions of your smile. But instead of making a physical impression that’s prone to errors and may have to be redone, we can scan your mouth to create a digital model of your teeth to work with. The accuracy of a digital scan is invaluable for making one-of-a-kind crowns and dentures.

Soft Tissue Laser

In order to treat gum disease, sometimes the infected tissue needs to be removed altogether. For such procedures, we use a soft tissue laser, which can be precisely aimed so as not to damage or remove the healthy parts of the gums. Dental lasers are very gentle; we rarely have to numb the mouth or take any other additional steps to reduce discomfort. Also, soft tissue laser therapy tends to speed up healing and can even eliminate the need for sutures afterwards.

CEREC® Technology

Our office uses CEREC, a revolutionary tool that mills a permanent crown in about an hour. Crowns previously required multiple appointments, dental impressions, temporary crowns, and a long wait for the permanent restoration to be fabricated at an outside lab. Now, using a 3D image of your tooth, our CEREC machine can mill a strong, all-porcelain restoration in just one visit.
